Cuspóir aon chóid iompair ar bith is ea an féinsmacht – rud is inmhianta do chách. Is gá mar sin go nglacfadh gach tuismitheoir leis an gcód smachta, agus go ndéanfáidis a gcion féin chun é a chur i bhfeidhm.

Cuireann an Cód Iompair roimhe treoirlínte agus nósanna imeachta a chur ar fáil a chaomhnaíonn caighdeáin iompair agus atmasféar a fhágann an deis ag gach dalta sa scoil a chumas nádúrtha a thabhairt chun lántairbhe.

Code of Discipline

The primary objective of any code of discipline is self-discipline – Therefore it is essential for all parents/guardians to accept and implement this code, a code which lays down behavioural guidelines, so as to foster in Scoil Chearbhaill Uí Dhálaigh, an atmosphere conducive to learning and to bring to full potential each child's natural ability.

This code of discipline incorporates the following.
A Standards of Behaviour.
B Behavioural Guidelines to implement the above.

Standards of behaviour can be sub-divided as follows:
(1) School behaviour in general
(2) Classroom behaviour in general
(3) Behaviour in the playground
(4) Behaviour on the school bus.

When you have read the rules, including Riail na Gaeilge, sign the Rules Form (Foirm na Rialacha) and send it back to the school. Iompar Scoile i gCoitinne

A.1.1 Caithfidh na daltaí Gaeilge a labhairt i gcónaí ach amháin i rith na dtráthanna do ranganna Béarla ar an tráthchlár.

A.1.2 Caithtear an éide scoile gach lá. Caithtear éide spóirt na scoile laethanta a mbeidh an corpoideachas sa tráthchlár. Sa chás nach mbeidh an éide iomlán á chaitheamh ag dalta soláthróidh an tuismitheoir/Caomhnóir nóta scríofa mar mhíniú. Caithfidh na páistí an éide scoile a chaitheamh i gcónaí agus iad i láthair áit ar bith ar son na scoile nó ag glacadh páirte in imeachtaí thar ceann na scoile. Mar an gcéanna moltar an éide scoile mar fheisteas oiriúnach don chomhneartú. San aimsir bhreá ceadaítear éide samhraidh na scoile a chaitheamh.

A.1.3 Am Scoile: Níor cheart d'aon dalta an scoil a fhágáil i gcaitheamh uaireanta scoile gan cead faoi leith ón bPríomhoide. Ní bheidh an cead seo le fáil ach ar bhonn iarratais scríofa i leabhar Obairbhaile an dalta nó más gá i bhfoirm litreach faoi chlúdach séalaithe. Ina leithéid de chás ní mór an páiste a bhailiú ó Oifig an Rúnaí agus é/í a shíniú amach.

A.1.4 Sa chás go mbíonn dalta as láthair, caithfidh an tuismitheoir/Caomhnóir míniú scríofa a sholáthar ar fhilleadh don dalta.

A.1.5 De bharr forálacha an pholasaí árachais níl sé ceadaithe do na daltaí fanacht sa seomra ranga le linn am sosa. Má theastaíonn ón dtuismitheoir/Caomhnóir go bhfanfadh an dalta istigh de bharr cúiseanna sláinte, caithfear cead scríofa an tuismitheora/Caomhnóra a sholáthar chuige seo. Tugtar aire do pháistí a fhanann istigh le linn ama sosa sa seomra feithimh os comhair oifig an Rúnaí.

A.1.6 Caithfidh tuismitheoirí an obair bhaile a scrúdú agus an dialann obair bhaile a shíniú gach lá. Cuirtear nóta leis an síniú má tá fadhb leis an obair bhaile.

A.1.7 Éilítear ar na daltaí cuirtéis agus dea-bhéasa a léiriú dá chéile agus do gach duine fásta a chasfar orthu ar scoil.

A.1.8 Ní ghlacfar le maistínteacht ar dhaltaí eile mar iompar.

A.1.9 Éilítear ar na daltaí an fhírinne a insint agus bheith macánta lena chéile agus ina gcaidreamh leis an scoil.

A.1.10 Éilítear go ndéanfaí rud ar iarratas na múinteoirí i gcónaí.

A.1.11 Ar mhaithe leis an sábháilteacht iarrtar ar na daltaí siúl sa scoil agus cúram a dhéanamh de dhaoine eile – Go háirithe de dhaltaí atá níos óige ná iad féin.

A.1.12 Caithfear bheith aireach i dtaobh fearais, troscán agus leithris na scoile. Beidh ar na tuismitheoirí/caomhnóirí cúiteamh cuí a dhíol i gcás aon díobháil a dhéanfaidh dalta.

A.1.13 Is ceart do na daltaí cúram gníomhach a dhéanamh dá dtimpeallacht agus bheith ar a ndícheall i gcónaí chun an scoil a choimeád glan agus saor ó bhrúscar.

A.1.14 Éilítear go mbeadh tuáille beag ag gach páiste chun a chuid lámha a thriomú. Ní gá a rá nach mór é a ní go minic.

School behaviour in general

A.1.1 Irish must be spoken at all times except during English lessons.

A.1.2 Children must wear full school uniform at all times. School tracksuits can be worn on physical education days. A written explanation from parents/guardians is required if a child is not wearing full uniform. Full school uniform is considered suitable attire for Confirmation and must be worn by pupils at all times when representing the school. During good weather the school's summer uniform may be worn.

A.1.3 Children are not allowed to leave the school premises without the principal's permission. This permission will only be granted if requested in written form in the child's homework notebook or by means of a letter. In such circumstances parents/guardians must collect the children from the Secretary's office and the pupil should be signed out.

A.1.4 A written note is required to explain absence from school.

A.1.5 The school insurance policy does not allow children to remain in classrooms during breaktimes. Parents/guardians requesting that their children remain indoors due to illness must supply a written note. Children remaining indoors during break times are supervised in the waiting room opposite the Secretary's office.

A.1.6 It is important for parents/guardians to examine and sign the homework notebook every night. Add a note to the signature if the child does not understand or cannot do the homework.

A.1.7 Courtesy and good manners towards each other and towards adults are demanded from the children at all times.

A.1.8 Bullying of others will not be accepted.

A.1.9 Children are encouraged to be truthful in their dealings with each other and with the school at all times.

A.1.10 It is expected that children would respond to teachers instructions.

A.1.11 For safety reasons children must walk rather than run in the school and are encouraged to look out for others especially those younger than themselves.

A.1.12 Children are expected to be careful with and to respect school furniture and property. All damages caused by pupils must be paid for.

A.1.13 Children are expected to keep the school and its surrounds clean, tidy and litter-free at all times.

A.1.14 Children are expected to have a small towel (a facecloth would suffice) to dry his/her hands. Needless to say, it needs to be washed regularly.

Iompar sa Seomra Ranga

Tá sé de cheart ag gach páiste taitneamh a bhaint as an lá ar scoil agus caithfear bheith ag féachaint chuige sin sa seomra ranga. Mar sin tá sé tábhachtach go gcuirfí i gcoinne iompair mhí rialta agus tá sé tábhachtach go dtabharfadh an tuismitheoir/caomhnóir cabhair don mhúinteoir ranga chun a leithéid a aithint agus a leigheas.

A.2.1 D'fhéadfaí iompar dá leitheíd seo a leanas a áireamh mar iompar mírialta:
 – Caint go leanúnach le páistí eile, nó caint ghránna, nó caint nach bhfuil inghlactha.
 – Bogadh timpeall sa tseomra i slí a dhéanfadh cur isteach nó amach ar dhaoine eile.
 – Diúltú rud a dhéanamh don múinteoir.

A.2.2 Beifear ag súil leis go ndéanfaidh gach páiste an obair atá leagtha orthu, idir obair ranga agus obair bhaile. Bac ar cheartriaradh an ranga is ea easpa leanúnach iarrachta ón dalta.

Classroom Behaviour in general

As it is the right of every child to enjoy the school day, unruly, disruptive behavour cannot be tolerated in the classroom. Parental/guardian assistance can greatly assist teachers in identifying and remedying such behaviour.

A.2.1 Unruly disruptive behaviour can be described as follows:
 – Talking continually to other children or using bad/unacceptable language.
 – Moving unduly around the classroom – distracting and interrupting other children
 – Continuously disobeying the teacher.

A.2.2 It is expected that all children will attempt assigned school work. Constant lack of effort on a child's part hinders effective classroom management.

Iompar sa chlós

Sa chlós bíonn scata mór páistí le chéile i spás beag. Mar sin caithfear tús áite a thabhairt don sábháilteacht.

A.3.1 Siúlfaidh gach rang i líne shingil go dtí an clós agus fanfaidh siad sa líne, ina dtost, go teacht an mhúinteora atá i bhfeighil.

A.3.2 Caithfear rud a dhéanamh ar an múinteoir i bhfeighil i gcónaí.

A.3.3 Caithfidh na daltaí fanacht ina gclós féin i gcónaí.

A.3.4 Ní cheadaítear iompar gharbh – ciceáil, brú, tarraingt, bualadh leagadh iomrascáil, dornálaíocht troid agus rith.

A.3.5 De réir na hócáide buailfear an cloigín nó séidfear an fheadóg. Seasfaidh na paistí go ciúin. Ar bualadh an chloigín nó séideadh na feadóige an athuair, leanfaidh na paistí ar aghaidh ag spraoi nó siúlfaidh siad go ciúin go dtí na línte de réir mar a oireann. Ar an dara buille siúlfar go ciúin go dtí na línte.

A.3.6 Ní cheadaítear bia sa chlós.

A.3.7 Níl cead ag aon pháiste an clós a fhágáil gan cead an mhúinteora atá i bhfeighil.

A.3.8 Lá fliuch fanfaidh gach rang ina sheomra féin agus ina suí.

Behaviour in the Play Ground

Safety is of upmost importance in the play ground as a lot of children are confined to a small area.

A.3.1 Each class will walk in a single line to the school yard and will stay in that line until the teacher on duty arrives.

A.3.2 Pupils must obey the teacher on duty.

A.3.3 Pupils must always stay in their own yard.

A.3.4 Bullying, both physical and verbal and threatening behaviour are totally unacceptable. Kicking, thumping, tripping, spitting, pushing, pulling clothes, carrying others on backs, wrestling, rough play and "mess fighting" of any kind is forbidden for whatever reason.

A.3.5 A whistle may be blown or the school bell rung. Pupils must respond immediately to the bell or whistle by standing quietly. On the second bell pupils should resume play or must walk to their line as appropriate.

A.3.6 Food is not permitted in the school yard.

A.3.7 Pupils are not allowed to leave the school yard without the permission of the teacher on duty.

A.3.8 On wet days pupils remain in their classrooms.

Iompar ar an mbus

A.4.1 Ní mór do pháistí Gaeilge a labhairt ar an mbus.

A.4.2 Ní mór dóibh fanacht ina suí ar an mbus go dtí go stopann an bus.

A.4.3 Iarrtar ar na dáltaí cuirtéis agus dea-bhéasa a léiriú dá chéile, don tiománaí agus do gach duine a chasfar orthu ar an mbus.

A.4.4 Ní ghlacfar le maistíneacht ar dhaltaí eile ar an mbus.

A.4.5 Iarrtar ar na daltaí treoracha an chinnire nó an tiománaí a leanúint.

A.4.6 Iarrtar ar na daltaí cúram a dhéanamh do dhaoine eile, go h-áirithe do dhaltaí atá níos óige ná iad féin.

A.4.7 Níor chóir aon díobháil a dhéanamh den bhus. Beidh ar an tuismitheoir/Caomhnóir cúiteamh cuí a íoc i gcás aon díobhála a dhéanfaidh dalta.

A.4.8 Ba chóir do pháistí a ndícheall a dhéanamh an bus a choimeád glan agus saor ó bhrúscar.

A.4.9 Níl céad ithe ná ól ar an mbus.

A.4.10 Níl céad cluichí a imirt ar an mbus.

Behaviour on the school bus

A.4.1 Irish must be spoken at all times on the bus.

A.4.2 Children must remain seated at all times.

A.4.3 Bullying of others will not be tolerated.

A.4.4 Children are asked to behave courteously towards each other and towards adults.

A.4.5 The bus driver must be obeyed.

A.4.6 Children are requested to be mindful of the needs of others especially those younger than themselves whilst travelling on the bus.

A.4.7 The children are asked not to damage the bus in any way. All damages must be paid for.

A.4.8 The bus must be kept clean and free from litter.

A.4.9 Eating and drinking on the bus are prohibited.

A.4.10 Children are not permitted to play games on the bus.

Nósanna Imeachta

Is cás leis an mBord cearta aonair gach uile páiste sa scoil agus is cás leis an mBord cearta na bpáistí i gcoitinne agus dá réir sin ní féidir leis an mbord ligint do chearta aonair éinne faoi leith teacht salach ar chearta tromlach na bpáistí i gcoitinne.

Chun timpeallacht éifeachtach scoile a chruthú moltar na céimeanna smachta seo a leanas.

B.1 I gcás mionsárú rialach, fágfar an cúram faoin múinteoir ranga. Is é/í an múinteoir ranga atá freagrach as an rang áirithe sin a chinnfidh cé acu beag nó mór an cúram. Má bhíonn páiste mírialta go leanúnach nó gan aon iarracht a dhéanamh san obair ranga go leanúnach cuirfidh an múinteoir nóta smachta abhaile le cóip a bhéas le cur ar ais sínithe. Beifear ag súil go síneoidh an tuismitheoir/caomhnóir an cóip den nóta smachta an tráthnóna céanna le go dtabharfaí le fios go bhfuarthas an teachtaireacht. D'fhéadfaí pribhléidí ar nós Turais Scoile, Cuairteanna, Drámaí srl a bhaint den dalta má leanann sé/sí leis an mhírialtacht i ndiaidh rabhaidh ó bhéil an mhúinteora.

B.2 Má fhaigheann aon pháiste trí nóta smachta, cuirfear fíos ar na tuismitheoirí agus pléifear "Plean ceartúcháin baile agus scoile" leo agus iarrfar an plean ceartúcháin baile a chur i bhfeidhm agus teangbháil rialta (a bheidh socraithe) a dhéanamh leis an scoil le dul chun cinn an phleain a bhreithniú.

B.3 Má éiríonn le B.2 thuas cuirtear nóta buíochas chuig an tuismitheoir/na tuismitheoirí.

B.4 Má theipeann ar B.2 cuirtear faoi bhráid an Bhoird é agus bíonn cruinniú idir an Cathaoirleach, an Príomhoide agus na tuismitheoirí/caomhnóirí ag plé na ceiste agus ag cur an páiste ar fionnraí más gá.

Behavioural Guidelines to implement the desired standards of behaviour

The Board of Management of Scoil Chearbhaill Uí Dhálaigh, while recognising the rights of each child in the school, cannot let individual rights overrule those of the majority. Therefore, in order to maintain school discipline and to create a school atmosphere conducive to learning the following "discipline-maintaining" steps are necessary.

B.1 Class teachers deal with minor incidents of disobedience. Parents/guardians shall be made aware of continuous disobedience or lack of effort on a child's part by means of a discipline note sent home with a copy which parents are expected to sign and to send back the following day to verify that the message was received. Privileges such as School Tours, Visits and Theatre, for example, may be withdrawn if a pupil's behaviour/effort does not improve following a verbal warning of withdrawal of these privileges from the class teacher.

B.2 Parents/guardians of children who receive three notes re disobedience are asked to come to the school. A "Home School Correction Policy" will be discussed with them and they will be asked to implement this policy at home. The effectiveness of this policy will be regularly assessed.

B.3 If B.2 above is successful an acknowledgement of gratitude shall be sent by the school to the parents/guardians.

B.4 If B.2 above fails the matter is submitted to the Board of Management. The chairperson, the school principal and the parents/guardians will meet to discuss the matter. Following this meeting, suspension from school will occur if necessary.

Riail na Gaeilge

Le timpeallacht agus atmasféar Gaeilge a chruthú agus a chothú sa scoil ní mór Riail na Gaeilge a chur i bhfeidhm sa scoil i.e. Go labhartar Gaeilge i gcónaí i Scoil Uí Dhálaigh. Bristear Riail na Gaeilge nuair a labhrann páiste Béarla ina fhrásaí agus ina abairtí. Cuirtear aois agus cumas an pháiste san áireamh agus an riail á chur i bhfeidhm.

Nuair a bhristear Riail na Gaeilge:

  1. Iarrtar ar an bpáiste a mhíniú cén fáth ar bhris sé/sí an Riail. Mínítear Riail na Gaeilge don pháiste arís agus iarrtar ar an leanbh iarracht níos fearr a dhéanamh agus "Na cúiseanna gur chóir Gaeilge a labhairt ar scoil" a scríobh amach. Cuirtear in iúl don tuismitheoir/caomhnóir gur briseadh Riail na Gaeilge trí Nóta Uimhir a 1 a chur abhaile. Ní mór don tuismitheoir an nóta a chur ar ais chun na scoile sínithe le tabhairt le fios gur léigh agus gur thuig siad é, agus gur spreag siad an páiste iarracht macánta a dhéanamh as seo amach.
  2. Má bhristear Riail na Gaeilge den dara h-uair leantar na céimeanna céanna ach go gcuirtear ar an bpáiste "Na cúiseanna gur chóir Gaeilge a labhairt ar scoil" a fhoghlaim de ghlan mheabhair.
  3. Má bhristear Riail na Gaeilge den tríú huair cuirtear fios ar na tuismitheoirí chun an scéal a phlé agus a gcomhoibriú a iarraidh agus cuirtear in iúl go gcuirfear an páiste ar fionnraí má bhristear an Riail den cheathrú uair.

Riail na Gaeilge (Irish-only Rule)

In order to create an atmosphere conducive to the learning, teaching and speaking of the language it is necessary to implement "Riail na Gaeilge", i.e. that Irish must be spoken at all times by the children at school. The children's age and ability are taken into account when enforcing this rule.

When "Riail na Gaeilge" is broken:

  1. The child is asked to explain why he/she failed to comply with the Rule. The importance of Riail na Gaeilge is explained/emphasised to the child again and an honest effort is expected/required in future. The child is asked to write "Na cúiseanna gur chóir Gaeilge a labhairt ar scoil". The parent/guardian is informed by "Nóta Uimhir a 1". The parents are requested to discuss the importance of Riail na Gaeilge with the child and to encourage them to comply with the rule and to return the note signed to the school.
  2. If Riail na Gaeilge is broken a second time nóta a 2 is sent home and the same procedure is followed except that the child is asked to learn "Na cúiseanna gur chóir Gaeilge a labhairt ar scoil" by heart.
  3. If Riail na Gaeilge is broken a third time the parents/guardians are requested to attend a meeting with the Principal and class teacher to discuss the matter and to request their co-operation. They are informed that the child will be suspended should he/she break the rule for a fourth time.
